Grenade attack in southern Yemen

An official at the governor's office in al-Mukalla — the provincial capital of Hadramawt, about 560 kilometers, or 350 miles, southeast of San'a — said the grenades were hurled from a speeding car.
A security official in the city blamed al-Qaida for Thursday's attack, and said troops had cordoned off the area and were pursuing the assailants. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because an Interior Ministry statement had not yet been released.
Yemen is Osama bin Laden's ancestral homeland. Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for a suicide car bomb last month that killed a Hadramawt policeman.
